Alta Vista - Main Thread

[Fragmaster01]

Welcome to yet another miserable day, here in the scenic hovel of Penbrook. The sun has decided it's going to sleep in today, and so you are left with an overcast sky. Hopefully today won't be rainy like yesterday. As the camera swooshes in dramatically in an establishing shot, we see a pigeon stop to eat a worm in the middle of the road, only to get run over by a jeep. Good times.

Apple Pending, ECL 1 Sneaky Snake: Your story seems to begin in a beige colored office. Rectangular, with file cabinets lining the walls and a peeling old wooden desk standing in front of you. This isn't a problem, though, for you're finally getting to kick some ass in the name of good, and get paid for it! Supposedly, the security force of Penbrook has a job that needs doing, and you're a close enough fit for the requirements that no one will really care about sending you off to your doom. At least you're not alone in this mess, as you appear to be joined by a 6'2" man made entirely of metal: he's sporting a blue and silver coloration, a mildly inhuman shape(albeit rather sleek and aerodynamic) a large rifle on his back, and a flak jacket and cargo pants in what you assume must be some sort of adventurer fashion.

William Shepherd, ECL 1 Metal Man: Hopefully the job pays well, though you get the sneaking suspicion that this isn't going to. You've got some company, though she seems a bit young: A red haired girl who seems to have her lower half taken over by some sort of dark brown snake tail. Well, hopefully she still has the important parts under that oversized t-shirt. She's also sporting a rifle with her, though lacking the fancy scope yours has. You're also joined by a light-skinned human, wearing the drab blue and grey tones of the Penbrook Security force. He's getting on in pounds, and you figure he probably could have done this work himself if he wasn't so intent on conquering his donuts first.

The officer glances over you with mild concern and boredom. He doesn't seem to be all that impressed with your adventuring chops. A husky voice erks out the usual greetings, however, and begins making sure he's got the right people. "So, you are here for the job posted in town, right...?"

[Caput]

Apple nods. "Sure!" She looks enthusiastic. This had better be fun and exciting, or she'll feel all let down.

[Fragmaster01]

Apple: The horrible man sighs and shakes his head. "Right, so... We've been having a little trouble near Mayville, that little farming town down the road? Large group of kobolds are being... uppity, shall we say. Not wanting to pay taxes, stealing stuff from the farmers, all that jazz. We've got some security officers down there, but it's taking a while to deal with. That's where you come in."

[Caput]

Apple nods. Kobolds are cute, but they were so going to end up shooting them anyway.

[Fragmaster01]

He seems to get what you're thinking. "No, no, I'm not trying to get you killed, geez!" He reaches under his desk, and hands out a shoulderbag sorta thing. Sealed shut, with a hefty lock on the zipper. "Just bring this down to the men at Mayville. 400 bucks, like it said on the poster. You open it, you don't get paid, so keep your hands to yourself."

[Caput]

Apple looks at her partner in crime heroism. "You think we can manage to not open a box for $400?"

[Meester Roboto]

"Heh, just kolbolds? How many are there? And how many are you?"

He looks over at apple.

"If we are not supposed to open the bag, it wont be opened. for 400, thats easy."

[Fragmaster01]

"Enough, though I'm sure the number's 'changed' by now. Still, all you need to worry about is delivery. We're only paying in case you meet a bit of trouble, it's not like you'll be doing the actual fighting. So, we got a deal?"

[Meester Roboto]

"Sounds perfectly fine to me."

He turns back to apple:

"Good with you?"

[Caput]

Apple blinks a couple of times before nodding decisively. "I'm good, yeah. We start right now?"

[Fragmaster01]

"Yeah." He hands Apple the bag. Couple of pounds, but not too heavy. Another human walks inside, light-skinned, black hair, same ugly uniform. He whispers something to the lardy-officer. "You're in luck, we've got another hand to help you out. He's waiting outside."

[Caput]

"Oh, ok." Apple is surprised, but not unpleasantly so. She wiggles along to meet their eager new assistant.

[Fragmaster01]

Apple: You head into the hallway outside. Off to your left are four more doors, similar to the officer's, and a stairway leading underground. To your left is a T intersection, and a window staring you in the face, showing the lovely overcast sky outside.
Waiting by the door is a rather bundled up figure, wearing a dark blue hoodie, and with a maroon scarf covering his face. He doesn't look very happy to be here.
The second officer comes back out, and throws a backpack at the figure. "Right, you're going with them. Do what they say, and everything will be good."

[Meester Roboto]

'Another?' Shepherd thinks to himself. Shepherd is a bit uneasy with new people who he may fight besides. But in this case its not too bad, its only a delivery mission. the bundled up nature of this new character makes him suspicious in a slight way.

[Caput]

Apple holds out a hand to be shaken. "Hi. I'm Apple. So you're helping us out?"

[Meester Roboto]

Shepherd stands behind apple, sizing up the new comer.

[Xaer QwickBlade]

Jochen holds his bag with both his hands, and looks at the cop muttering, "Abfalle Kopf..." After a moment he replies to Apple, "looks like it. I'm called Jochen"

[Caput]

"Hi Jochen. Know what we're doing?" Apple withdraws the hand, since the newcomer's are full, but she doesn't seem put out by it.

[Meester Roboto]

Shepherd nods at learning the newcomers name, as if to say hello. He continues standing with his arms cross.

[Xaer QwickBlade]

Jochen adjusts his grip on his bag, and replies steadily, "no" He shifts his gaze towards the officers in the room.

Apple: The second officer gives a shrug. "You can explain on the way." He points to the first hallway of the intersection. "Now get moving, don't need it rained on."

[Meester Roboto]

Shepherd looks at the officer and nods, and then moves from his position to exit down the hallway.

[Caput]

Apple looks quizzically at the officer for a moment, then shrugs, says "Kay" and heads for the door out at a leisurely pace.

Jochen walks out the door after the 2 strangers, glaring at the officers as he leaves.

[Fragmaster01]

All: You leave the security building. Outside is a paved road full of cracks and potholes. Several sandstone colored buildings loom over you, giving the impression of being in a crappy backalley, despite being on what the town professes to be a proper road. A bum wearing a faded green coat waddles along to your left, clutching a bottle in a paper bag. The overcast sky above says "meh" to your thoughts of adventure.
