Playing Gods Empty Playing Gods

Life. Don't talk to us about life. We know all about it already. Have for years. It's boring, mundane. What comes out, is a small fraction of what you put in, and that's before taxes. The best you can hope for is for a life as boring as possible, away from violence, robbery, natural disaster. Life is life. Unless you're one of them.

They're a bit different you see. They speak to me of a world beyond this one, a world where what you put into life isn't at all what you get out of it, where danger and power mix for a delightful sort of magic, if you're into that kind of thing. And they speak of themselves, the "Bridge"s, they so proudly named themselves: those who walk between the worlds, bringing a little bit of that magic back home to our little mundane bit of reality. They might not be the friendliest of chaps, but when one of them is around, it's never boring.

Why tell you about them? Isn't it obvious?
You're one of them.

Playing Gods is a play by post WodMod game, of a much different variety than the Survival game. Rather than mundane people caught up in terrible events, you're the movers and shakers of the plot, possibly the world. While your characters start out not too much more than human, they wield magical powers in a world rather limited in the arcane, and you can quickly grow to quite the powerhouse. Of course, there's always still problems, even for a Bridge: mortals who dislike your tampering with their reality, creatures of magic who dislike the havoc Bridges bring, and of course, the scheming and politicking of your own kin.

A Bridge is just that: a bridge between the mortal and the magical. Your characters have access to magical Domains, ranging from the generics of Fire and Healing to the strange, such as Undeath, Sleep and Dreams, Luck, or Famine. While you're limited to that starting Domain initially, and it's hard to get access to new ones, you're quite skilled at that Domain, being able to throw out minor powers of it at will, and of course bend reality around your Domain with a little effort if needed.

A Bridge needs to be tethered to this world, though, and one that doesn't exercise their powers will find themselves becoming unanchored, either falling completely into the magical world to begin a new life there, or lapsing back into their mortal life with no memory of their magical existence. Some choose to gather followers and worshipers to their side, while others simply go out and exercise their Domain in whatever ways suit them. Either way, the more a Bridge affects their world, the more they find themselves able to affect it in the future, gaining the ability to create chosen Champions of their Domain, alter the territory around their lair to match their needs, connect their followers to the flow of magic, or empower themselves beyond mortal limits. No matter what, life around a Bridge is never boring.

So, come one and come all. Characters can be whatever you wish, from child messiahs to drunk demigods to sociopath lords of death. You'll usually be posting in your own thread, and you're not required to cooperate with your fellow gamers, or even stay out of their way. There is, of course, nothing stopping you from working together, but are you really best of friends? Or just waiting for the best moment to back stab your compatriot?

Character Making: You start as a human with normal stats, skills, and merits, and 12XP. You have one Domain, selected at character creation, representing the core of your magical ability. You have a flaw associated with that Domain, such as a God of Sleep having trouble sleeping themselves, or needing far more of it than usual. You also have 1 Bridge point, used to purchase fancy abilities along your domain such as magically empowered followers, a superhuman form, or an arcane territory from which to scheme your grand designs(purchase list coming soon). Characters are not required to be good with a group, as you won't be in a party with everyone else.

So, anyone interested in playing God?

Heyo, here's a quick list of generic bridge point things. There's a lot more you can buy with them, but many uses will be dependent on what your character can do. These are just the ones that work for anyone: http://www.mediafire.com/?cwyzl2ntlyz
Also, yay two people! Needs more! DM Monster is never satisfied, must eat raw nerdy flesh!
